I. Lý thuyết

Một mệnh đề to – động từ nguyên mẫu có thể được sử dụng để:

- thể hiện mục đích.

Ví dụ: I studied hard to pass the exam.

(Tôi đã học chăm chỉ để vượt qua kỳ thi.)

I bought some souvenirs to give my parents.

(Tôi đã mua một số quà lưu niệm để tặng bố mẹ.)

- để xác định một danh từ hay cụm danh từ chứa số thứ tự (the first, the second,…), so sánh nhất (the best, the most beautiful, …) và next (tiếp theo), last (cuối cùng), và only (duy nhất).

Ví dụ: Ethan is usually the last person to understand the joke.

(Ethan thường là người cuối cùng hiểu câu chuyện cười/ lời nói đùa.)

She is the smartest student to deal with the hard Math quiz.

(Cô ấy là học sinh thông minh nhất để giải được bài kiểm tra Toán khó.)

II. Bài tập Unit 6

Mark the intonation in the following sentences, using $\searrow$ (falling intonation) or $\nearrow$ (level-rising intonation). Then practise saying them in pairs.

1. We should make clubs more interesting for teenagers.

2. It is important to raise people’s awareness of its importance.

3. Forms of cultural heritage include folk music, singing, and dancing.

4. We can go on a tour by boat, see areas of natural beauty, and listen to folk music.

5. All buildings are kept in their original state.

6. Young people can contribute more to heritage preservation.

7. We can see its natural beauty with beautiful limestone mountains, valleys, and rivers.

8. She enjoys reading novels set in the 19^th century.

9. Cultural heritage may include temples, pagodas, and monuments.

10. The most UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Viet Nam are Hoi An, Phong Nha Cave, Thang Long Citadel, Hue Citadel and Ha Long Bay.
