By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

WARM-UP/REVIEW (5 minutes) Aim: To motivate students and help students to review animal vocabulary, bedroom vocabulary. |

*Game: “Odd one out” - Explain how to play the game. - Divide the class into four groups. Put three pictures on the board, one of which is obviously different from the others. E.g. a blanket, a pillow, a dog - Call the first group to go to the board. Ask the students to point to the odd one out in the first set of the pictures. The student who points to the correct word then says it correctly gets one point for that group. If the student has difficulty, ask other students in the group to help him/her. - Put the pictures on the board and continue the game in the same way with other groups. - The group that finds the most odd one out and says the words correctly will win. - Praise the winner. Give feedback. àExpected outcomes and assessment - Task completed with excellence: Students can say the words correctly. - Task completed: Students can say the words - Task uncompleted: Students are unable to say the words. |
- Listen to the teacher’s explanation. - Work in groups.
- Go to the board. Point to the odd one out in the first set of the pictures. The student who points to the correct word then says it correctly gets one point for that group. If the student has difficulty, ask other students in the group to help him/her.

PRESENTATION (10 minutes) Aim: To help students identify the words related to bedroom objects. |

*Write and match. There is one extra picture. (page 94) - Point to the picture of the rug in activity 1. Say urg. Ask the students if this is correct. - Show the students that they must rearrange the letters to write the word correctly. - Ask students to unscramble the letters for the other items. Then ask they to write the number of the word next to the correct picture in pencil. - Give the students time to complete the activity. - Ask the students to say the extra item (table). - Ask students to go to the board and write the answer for each picture. - Check the answers as the class. Give comments. Answers: 1. rug 2. great 3. cabinet àExpected outcomes and assessment - Task completed with excellence: Students can write the words correctly. - Task completed: Students can write the words. - Task uncompleted: Students are unable to write the words. |
- Answer the question.

Elicit the words. - Play the example and point to the first sentence. - Explain that the students will listen and write the correct word. - Play the full recording, pausing after each sentence for students to write. - Ask students to write their answers on the board. - Confirm the correct answers. - Praise students if they have done well. PRODUCTION (10 minutes) Aim: To help students review bedroom objects and the pattern with There’s and There are. |

*Game: “Lucky numbers” Cards (computer, blankets, books, pillow, bed, rug, drawers) - Introduce the game. - Prepare some cards with points on their backs from 1 to 20 and put them in a box. - Divide the class into two groups. - Model the activity first. E.g. There’s a computer in my bedroom. There are two books on the desk. - Have each team stand in a line. - Have each student of each group pick a card from the box. Let them look at the content of the card and make a sentence using can or can’t. - Get corresponding points for his/her team. - Continue with the other students. - The group that gets the most points win. - Praise the winner. Give comments. àExpected outcomes and assessment - Task completed with excellence: Students can say the sentences correctly. - Task completed: Students can say the sentences. - Task uncompleted: Students are unable to say the sentences. |
